Manufacturing System Engineer
About The Position
The Manufacturing Systems Engineer is responsible for utilizing, modifying, improving, and further developing the multiple manufacturing systems that are needed in the daily production and servicing of BI products. This role serves as a systems engineer for manufacturing process and operations, executing on manufacturing system modifications as directed by the Lead Process Engineer. The engineer will identify areas for improvement through process automation, understand and model manufacturing processes and information infrastructure, and propose process and software improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Collaboration across functions with Methods & Procedure Support, Industrial and Process engineering, and IT team members is essential to execute needed manufacturing changes and improvements. The role involves developing or modifying code to meet manufacturing systems requirements, implementing coding and unit testing standards, and coordinating code releases, quality, and testing for manufacturing and operations. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
- Ability to pass a federal background check and obtain a suitability determination.
- United States citizenship required.
- Must live in the United States 3 of the last 5 years (military and study abroad included).
- Experience in project management.
- Knowledge of Agile software development methodology.
- Source Control: knowledge of change control technologies.
- Thorough familiarity with product development lifecycle and extensive experience with multiple methodologies.
- Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes and standard operation procedure.
- Outstanding technical and analytical skills.
- Understand databases: Relational database experience, SQL Server 2012 or higher.
- Ability to provide technical mentoring to peers, evaluate technical alternatives and provide technical recommendations to management.
- Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems.
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
- Proficient project management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and to meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with regard to information stored in operational databases.
- Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
Responsibilities
- Serves as systems engineer for manufacturing process and operations.
