About The Position

The Manufacturing Support Technician is a hybrid manufacturing role responsible for both direct production coverage and advanced technical support activities. This position provides critical floor coverage during planned and unplanned absences while also serving as a technical utility resource supporting test fixtures, cables, and diagnostic systems. The role requires flexibility, strong technical aptitude, and comfort working in a paced production environment. This role requires a broad technical skill set combined with operational flexibility. Final job levelling and compensation will be aligned to the hybrid production and technical scope of the position and in accordance with GE HealthCare policies. Work priorities may shift between production operations and technical support based on daily business and operational needs.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Must be able to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods of time and complete tasks using a microscope
  • The ability to follow both verbal and written instructions along with strong communication skills
  • Capability to use a computer and enter accurate data
  • Being flexible to changing needs of the business and department and will work overtime as needed
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Highly organized, self-managed individual who works independently and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft Office experience is a plus
  • Experience supporting both production operations and engineering or test environments
  • Prior experience as a utility, floater, or multi‑process technician
  • Technical training or equivalent hands‑on experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with operators, leads, engineers, and supervisors

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct production coverage for qualified process positions to support staffing continuity during vacations, absences, and other coverage gaps
  • Maintain and sustain qualifications across multiple production processes and workstations
  • Execute standard work while meeting safety, quality, delivery, and productivity requirements
  • Support production flow and throughput while identifying and escalating issues that may impact output or quality
  • Communicate effectively with production leads, supervisors, and support functions to ensure smooth handoffs and issue resolution
  • Flex between production and technical assignments based on operational priorities
  • Assemble, test, validate, and maintain test fixtures, test cables, connectors, and related utility hardware
  • Troubleshoot and repair PCBs, test fixtures, cables, and system‑level components
  • Perform hand soldering and rework, including through‑hole and surface‑mount components (fine‑pitch)
  • Interpret and trace schematics, wiring diagrams, cable drawings, and test documentation
  • Utilize electronic test and diagnostic equipment (e.g., multimeters, continuity testers, capacitance and poling equipment)
  • Perform preventive maintenance, verification, and functional checks on test systems and fixtures
  • Document repairs, test results, configuration changes, and maintenance activities per site procedures
  • Support engineering and manufacturing teams with prototype builds, process support, and system integration
  • Maintain required training and process certifications to ensure production coverage readiness
  • Follow all GE HealthCare safety, quality, EHS, and ESD requirements
  • Maintain an organized, safe, and compliant work area
