About The Position

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. As a Production Supervisor at the Cottage Grove, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by guiding activities and personnel in order to achieve the safe handling and disposal of hazardous waste in an environmentally conscious and productive manner. You will cultivate and lead a team by encouraging and implementing cross training activities, cooperation, innovation, flexibility and teamwork. You will schedule work priorities consistent with engineering directives, coordinate maintenance activities, allocate work assignments, communicate expectations and monitor workflow. You will provide coaching and feedback to employees and utilize corrective action to resolve conflict and inappropriate behaviors. You will train employees on all aspects of the Cottage Grove operations and processes, and provide them with proper tools, equipment and information including any changes that may affect their work. You will ensure a safe work environment by reviewing production processes, OSHA requirements, and recognizing and resolving safety-related problems. You will ensure employees receive training as specified and maintain certification and training requirements. You will provide effective communication to employees through crew meetings, electronic mail, and 1:1 coaching sessions. You will complete housekeeping audits and job safety analysis on a regular basis. You will utilize available resources to resolve process, maintenance, equipment and/or related technical problems. You will monitor and remediate process equipment downtime while maintaining safe operating limits. You will analyze and interpret statistical data and charts to identify trends and determine improvement plans. You will communicate and follow-up on safety, productivity, quality, and maintenance concerns with appropriate staff. You will generate work requests and enter incident reports in accordance with established procedures. You will implement advanced working knowledge and interpretation of corporate and site policies and procedures. You will ensure shift administrative activities such as time reporting, attendance control, vacation planning, overtime, etc. are properly implemented and documented. You will participate in assigned team functions and projects. Understanding of DOT and Hazardous Material Regulations is required. You will be an active member and participate in site Emergency E-squad activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution and a minimum of two (2) years of combined experience working in a manufacturing or production environment in a private, public, government or military setting.
  • OR High School diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution and a minimum of four (4) years of combined experience working in a manufacturing or production environment in a private, public, government or military setting.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
  • Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.
  • Failure to provide the necessary information in regard to U.S. person status will result in our inability to consider you further for this particular position.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
