About The Position
The Set-Up Technician performs product changeovers, machine setups, adjustments, and startup activities on lining machines, rotary assembly machines, and other automated production equipment in a plastic cap manufacturing facility. The role ensures equipment is configured properly for each production run, changeovers are completed efficiently, and products meet established quality standards. It also supports reliable equipment operation and reduced downtime through basic troubleshooting, minor repairs, and light maintenance. The position is hands-on and based around production equipment in a plastic cap manufacturing facility. It is a first-shift role, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime. The employee is expected to perform physical tasks within established safety guidelines.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous manufacturing experience required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform machine adjustments and basic troubleshooting.
- Ability to use hand tools safely and perform minor repairs and light maintenance tasks.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to product quality.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with production, maintenance, and quality teams.
- Ability to perform physical tasks around production equipment within established safety guidelines.
Nice To Haves
- Machine setup or changeover experience preferred.
- Experience with lining machines, rotary assembly machines, packaging equipment, or similar automated machinery is a plus.
- Basic understanding of mechanical components, pneumatic systems, and sensors preferred.
- Familiarity with 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Perform product changeovers and machine setups on lining machines, rotary assembly machines, and related production equipment.
- Install and adjust tooling, guides, fixtures, and change parts for different product configurations.
- Set and verify machine parameters, timing, alignment, and operating conditions according to established procedures.
- Complete changeovers efficiently while minimizing downtime and startup scrap.
- Verify machine operation and product quality before releasing equipment for production.
- Identify setup-related issues and make adjustments to maintain consistent quality and production output.
- Troubleshoot routine mechanical and operational issues affecting machine performance.
- Perform minor repairs and adjustments, including clearing jams, replacing basic components, and adjusting guides and tooling.
- Assist with basic troubleshooting of sensors and pneumatic components within the scope of training and authorization.
- Perform light maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubrication, inspections, and basic component replacement.
- Recognize issues requiring additional maintenance or technical support and communicate them promptly.
- Verify product quality following setups and changeovers, including liner placement, retention, and other applicable specifications.
- Identify setup-related defects, scrap, and process inconsistencies and take corrective action within established procedures.
- Complete setup documentation and communicate equipment status and production concerns to supervisors.
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and support 5S, standardized work, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to reduce changeover times, improve setup consistency, and increase production efficiency.
- Work collaboratively with production, maintenance, and quality teams to support reliable production output and continuous improvement.
