Beam is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Sciences & Technology Co-op to join our Technical Operations organization from January through June 2027. This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting late-stage clinical cell therapy manufacturing operations through projects focused on aseptic process simulation (APS), process validation, and regulatory inspection readiness. Under the guidance of under the guidance of their mentor, the co-op will support strategic initiatives that strengthen process understanding, sterility assurance, and manufacturing process robustness while collaborating across Manufacturing, Quality, Validation, and Technical Operations functions.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Must be entering their third or fourth year of undergraduate study or currently pursuing a Master's degree.
  • Strong interest in biopharmaceutical manufacturing, cell therapy, sterile manufacturing, or GMP operations.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work onsite in Durham, NC
  • Ability to occasionally enter manufacturing and laboratory environments while following applicable gowning and safety requirements.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods.
  • This role follows a hybrid work schedule and requires onsite attendance 4-5 days per week.
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in a degree-granting college or university program and maintain their student status throughout the duration of the internship/co-op to be eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a project plan, define objectives and desired outcomes, engage cross-functional stakeholders, and execute against established timelines.
  • Support the lifecycle management of the site's Aseptic Process Simulation (APS) program, including protocol development, execution support, data analysis, and report generation.
  • Support activities related to Pre-License Inspection (PLI) readiness, including document review, data verification, and inspection support preparation.
  • Prepare technical summaries and presentations for MSAT leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Maintain compliant documentation practices in accordance with GMP requirements.
