About The Position

Motorola Solutions is seeking a Manufacturing Quality Manager to lead site engineering and quality operations at their new Salt Lake City Electronics Manufacturing Facility. This is a high-impact role for a technical individual who can bridge the gap between the factory floor and corporate headquarters. The manager will be the primary on-site technical authority, responsible for architecting production lines and performing deep-dive diagnostics on radio hardware to ensure the Quality team remains self-sufficient and aligned with HQ standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, or science; or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Ability to work 100% on-site.
  • Ability to travel extensively to Los Angeles for training during the initial months of the role.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven experience building and optimizing production lines in an electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Electronics troubleshooting experience, down to the component level.
  • Experience in fine pitch hand soldering.
  • Experience using lab equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Strong background in continuous improvement (Lean/Six Sigma) in an electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with a track record of maintaining remote-to-headquarters alignment.
  • Proven capabilities in leading a multi-disciplined team to meet objectives under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, build-out, and optimization of electronics manufacturing production lines, troubleshooting line flow and mechanical bottlenecks.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for radio hardware, diagnosing complex technical issues and mentoring QA technicians on sophisticated troubleshooting.
  • Maintain a connection to HQ, serving as the central conduit for quality standards and ensuring site operations align with corporate engineering expectations.
  • Plan and coordinate daily, weekly, and yearly activities for the Quality department.
  • Support warehouse, shipping, and production operations to hit monthly targets and drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and cost.
  • Ensure rigorous adherence to quality and regulatory guidelines, including ISO requirements and internal corporate protocols.
  • Identify and implement long-term continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare and manage the departmental budget.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and train a world-class technical staff, focusing on mentoring employees to handle advanced diagnostic tasks independently.
