About The Position

The Manufacturing Production Planner is responsible for managing production scheduling, material planning, and performance tracking in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Ensure on-time delivery, efficient resource utilization, and alignment between customer demand, supplier commitments, and production capacity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, business or related field from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent.
  • Three years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or project controls within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience applying earned value management (EVM) methodologies, including CPI and SPI tracking analysis.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective communication and cross functional collaboration
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Expertise in planning, scheduling, and supply chain integration
  • Data-driven decision-making mindset

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in complex or heavy manufacturing environments (e.g., power generation, aerospace, industrial repair).
  • Familiarity with integrated project planning in refurbishment or outage environments.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP)

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize detailed production schedules based on customer demand, forecasts, capacity constraints, and material availability.
  • Utilize scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera (P6) to plan, sequence, and track production and refurbishment activities.
  • Monitor schedule adherence and proactively adjust plans to mitigate delays and disruptions.
  • Integrate supplier production schedules, delivery commitments, and lead times into the overall manufacturing production plan.
  • Collaborate closely with procurement and suppliers to align material readiness with production schedules.
  • Track vendor performance and proactively manage risks related to late deliveries, quality issues, or capacity constraints.
  • Develop mitigation and recovery plans to address supply chain disruptions and maintain production continuity.
  • Execute material planning using MRP systems to ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, and subassemblies.
  • Analyze MRP outputs and coordinate with procurement to resolve shortages and expedite critical items.
  • Balance inventory levels to meet production needs while minimizing excess and carrying costs.
  • Maintain accurate master data in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations).
  • Generate and manage work orders, purchase requisitions, and production tracking reports.
  • Ensure data integrity to support effective planning, scheduling, and reporting.
  • Apply Project Management Institute (PMI) earned value management (EVM) principles to track and control production and project performance.
  • Monitor and analyze key metrics including: Cost Performance Index (CPI), Schedule Performance Index (SPI), Planned Value (PV), Earned Value (EV), and Actual Cost (AC).
  • Identify variances, forecast outcomes, and recommend corrective actions to maintain cost and schedule performance.
  • Provide clear and concise performance reporting to operations and leadership teams.
  • Analyze labor, equipment, and facility capacity to ensure achievable production plans.
  • Identify bottlenecks and recommend solutions to improve throughput and efficiency.
  • Support long-term capacity planning and resource alignment.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, and quality teams to align priorities and execution plans.
  • Communicate schedule updates, risks, and recovery strategies to stakeholders.
  • Participate in production reviews and planning meetings.
  • Track and report KPIs including on-time delivery, schedule adherence, cycle time, inventory turns, and resource utilization.
  • Integrate operational KPIs with EVM metrics to provide a comprehensive view of performance.
  • Drive data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and implement improvements in planning processes, scheduling accuracy, and system utilization.
  • Support lean manufacturing and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Standardize planning and reporting methodologies across the organization.

Benefits

  • Initial annual compensation will range from $72,200 to $96,500
