About The Position

Charter Manufacturing, a fourth-generation family-owned business, is seeking Production Operators to join their team at Charter Casting in Shawano. This role offers full-time work with stable hours, weekly paychecks, and a variety of bonuses including a sign-on bonus, quarterly performance bonuses, referral bonuses, and profit sharing. Requirements

  • 1 year prior experience working in manufacturing, foundry, metals, or related field
  • Lives by our values of trust, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement
  • High School Diploma (we can help with our GED works program!)
  • Ability to push, pull, lift, and move up to 60lbs
  • Basic math and problem solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Prior machine shop experience is a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Operate molding machines and set cores
  • Assemble and prepare sand molds for pouring
  • Inspect and prepare all patterns, set up mold production
  • Coordinate & communicate with melt and molding lines
  • Quality inspections on castings and patterns
  • Maintain a clean workspace, ladle repairs, and prepare for next production run
  • Transport melting materials and supplies
  • Operate melting furnace charging equipment
  • Learn to operate the melting furnaces
  • Transport melting materials and supplies from the warehouse or other locations to the melt deck
  • Remove full slag hoppers from the melt deck and transport to commercial refuse containers
  • Responsible for own safety and the safety of others in the area
  • Make and prepare sand cores using molds to form holes or hollows in iron castings
  • Set up, adjustments, and troubleshooting multiple pieces of equipment
  • Enter settings into computer system
  • Review process sheets and inspect conditions of cores
  • Complete preventative maintenance as required
  • Grind iron castings to specifications
  • Use power tools such as robots, hand grinders, stationary grinders and pencil grinders
  • Perform wheel changes
  • Record data & complete paperwork
