About The Position

Hypertherm Associates is looking for an experienced Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our Heavy Industrial Operations Engineering Team. In this role, you will leverage your manufacturing and project management expertise to spearhead process improvements. You’ll design, develop, and implement engineering solutions to tackle critical challenges, collaborating closely with production and cross-functional teams. Focus areas include process technology, new product development, automation, and digital tech. You’ll thrive in a high-uncertainty environment, using creative problem-solving and risk mitigation. Self-motivation, decisiveness, and agility are key.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role
  • Strong Project Management skills
  • Root cause problem solving skills, methodology, and ability to innovate corrective actions/solutions
  • Lean/Six-Sigma certifications, knowledge, application, leadership
  • CAPEX justification & management
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate execution plans for strategic activities
  • Ability to mentor and train Technicians

Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple projects, set objectives and milestones, and ensure timely, budget-friendly completion and production implementation.
  • Improve manufacturing processes by driving technical solutions and indirectly leading engineers or technicians.
  • Provide management with technical recommendations and be recognized as a technical expert in areas like project management, automation, controls, mechanical design, process flow, and Six Sigma.
  • Build and maintain relationships with the production team and cross-functional teams.
  • Communicate project goals at all business levels.
  • Design tooling, fixtures, and workstations for new product introduction.
  • Offer “Design For Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA)” feedback during prototyping.
  • Lead or participate in “Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA)” to mitigate failure modes in process and design.
  • Manage the investigation, justification, and purchase of new equipment and tooling.
  • Contribute to defining the equipment/process technology roadmap for the annual operating plan.
