The Manufacturing Process Engineer will be responsible for lineside support projects and process improvement activities to achieve departmental and plant goals, specifically supporting a production line. This role requires using data-driven decisions to drive improvements and demonstrate effectiveness, focusing on capacity expansion through existing process optimization, quality/waste improvement, and cost improvement activities. The engineer will balance multiple assignments of varying scope and complexity, interacting with several levels of cross-functional teams. This position involves designing and implementing machine improvements, assisting Project Engineers with design feedback and installation assistance for capital projects, and guiding staff in troubleshooting and upkeep of cam-driven equipment that integrates pneumatic, servo, and PLC-driven equipment/sensors. The role supports the plant manufacturing effort with a proven ability to identify problems and pursue plans toward their resolution in a fast-paced environment. The engineer will coordinate activities between equipment vendors, Division R & D, and plant functional departments, manage multiple projects of small to large scope requiring extensive coordination to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives. Responsibilities include preparing and submitting capital appropriation requests and controlling expenditures for small-scale improvements, collaborating with EHS staff to update and maintain a safe work environment, and facilitating and coordinating strategic PM activities that align with data-driven troubleshooting. The role also involves recommending vendors for commercial items and materials, determining which elements of a job are suitable for in-house fabrication or revision, securing quotations and selecting contractors, and recommending and implementing capital equipment or process modifications. The engineer will be responsible for all associated documentation updates and implementation, developing a firm understanding of all equipment, attaining budgeted cost reductions and efficiency gains, and being accountable for spending within approved limits. Additionally, the role includes guiding, mentoring, and developing technical staff, modifying, redesigning, and creating technical drawings of tooling and fixtures. More than 70% of the time will be spent on the floor supporting troubleshooting, maintenance, and improvement projects. The engineer will direct the efforts of support personnel and provide functional supervision of other Engineers.
