About The Position

Florida Tile is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Press Operator to join our manufacturing team. The Press Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining press department equipment to ensure efficient production of high-quality tile products. This role monitors product quality, performs routine equipment inspections, assists with preventive maintenance activities, and supports the training of new operators.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience operating industrial press equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of press operation, maintenance practices, and production processes.
  • Understanding of workplace safety procedures and equipment operating standards.
  • Ability to identify quality issues and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Ability to train, guide, and support team members.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality products.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain automatic presses and dryers to meet production and quality standards.
  • Follow all department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety requirements.
  • Monitor press operations to ensure tile products are manufactured according to specifications.
  • Inspect press equipment and related machinery before each shift and report any issues.
  • Adjust and regulate cycle speeds as needed to optimize production efficiency.
  • Measure and verify tile thickness and body moisture levels to ensure product quality.
  • Maintain cleanliness of dies, die cases, riser blocks, and associated equipment.
  • Perform routine blow-off adjustments to ensure proper die case cleaning.
  • Audit lug dimensions regularly to verify compliance with required specifications.
  • Produce sufficient ware to support production line requirements and schedules.
  • Conduct regular quality inspections, identify defects, make corrective adjustments when possible, and immediately report issues that cannot be corrected.
  • Assist in training and mentoring new Press Operators.
  • Support preventive maintenance (PM) programs and general equipment maintenance activities.
  • Complete required production and quality documentation accurately and timely.
  • Notify supervisors of equipment repairs, maintenance needs, or operational concerns.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
