About The Position

The Manufacturing Operations Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Manufacturing and Assembly personnel. This role involves coordinating with the Production Manager and Master Scheduler to establish priorities, creating and maintaining employee training programs, and scheduling repairs and preventative maintenance for production equipment. The manager will also be responsible for controlling costs, productivity, and labor utilization, and reporting on key production performance metrics. Secondarily, the role involves actively participating in the quoting process, learning the ERP system for new part input, managing hazardous waste, and contributing to Safety, 6S, Visual Management, and Lean Manufacturing initiatives. Collaboration with the Quality Manager for AS9100, ISO 9001, and NADCAP audits is also a key aspect of this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • +7 years of work experience in manufacturing/production
  • Hands-on experience managing a manufacturing facility with CNC, Secondary operations, and multi-part assembly in a medium to high volume environment.
  • Aerospace Manufacturing Industry experience required
  • Experience leading, empowering, and mentoring teams of individuals to meet and exceed company performance targets
  • Experience in basic trouble shooting and Preventive Maintenance of CNC Machines and equipment
  • Analytical skills to collaborate in the creation of quotes for customers
  • Excellent skills in spoken and written communications
  • Must live within 25 miles of Carson, CA

Nice To Haves

  • Lean Manufacturing training or certification preferred (6S, Kaizen and Visual Management)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of Manufacturing and Assembly personnel.
  • Coordinate with Production Manager and Master Scheduler to establish priorities on both shifts for all production areas.
  • Create and maintain employee training on a monthly/quarterly basis.
  • Create training aids to instruct and increase skill sets for assemblers, operators, and personnel performing ERP transactions.
  • Schedule repairs and Preventative Maintenance for all key production equipment.
  • Control costs, productivity, and labor utilization.
  • Report production key performance metrics: Safety, OTD to customer, machine utilization, labor efficiency, Cost of quality, FPY and quality rejections, and 6S scores.
  • Actively participate in quoting process working with the GM.
  • Work with GM to learn ERP system process for inputting new parts (items) into system.
  • Hazardous waste management and disposal.
  • Work with GM on Safety and 6S program initiatives.
  • Work with GM on implementation of Visual Management and Lean Manufacturing projects.
  • Work with GM and Quality Manager in readiness for AS9100, ISO 9001 and NADCAP scheduled audits.
