About The Position

EW Grobbel is looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Mechanic to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain high-speed production equipment. If you enjoy diagnosing tough mechanical problems, rebuilding equipment, and keeping operations running safely and efficiently, we want to talk to you. This position may require an initial training period of up to 90 days at our Detroit Eastern Market location before transitioning to the primary work site. Requirements

  • 5+ years of mechanical maintenance experience in manufacturing, industrial maintenance, diesel repair, heavy equipment, fleet maintenance, military mechanics, or a related field.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Experience working with hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, and production equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a high-performance team.
  • Strong sense of urgency and pride in producing quality work.

Nice To Haves

  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting experience, including 480V and 3-phase systems, is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain high-speed production and packaging equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on: Conveyors and automated production equipment, Motors, drives, pumps, and gearboxes, Bearings, chains, and sprockets, Hydraulic and pneumatic systems, Industrial electrical systems (480V / 3-phase).
  • Diagnose mechanical failures and replace or repair defective components.
  • Fabricate and install machine parts, guards, brackets, and equipment modifications as needed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and machine rebuilds.
  • Partner with production and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
