About The Position

Pioneer Metal Finishing is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for their manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for investigating and solving maintenance-related problems, ensuring vendor issues are resolved, and assisting with department documentation, inventory, and preventative maintenance schedules. The position requires comfort with heights, electrical equipment, and chemicals, as well as strong communication skills. The facility environment can experience temperature fluctuations. The role also involves managing the department's budget, processing purchase orders, and overseeing OSHA-required safety training. The Maintenance Mechanic will perform a variety of maintenance duties including repair, installation, fabrication, adjustment, and troubleshooting of equipment. They will diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions, perform mechanical, electrical, and plumbing operations, and coordinate start-up and shutdown functions. Responding to emergency calls and addressing safety issues promptly are also key responsibilities. The role requires working safely in compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations, adhering to Quality System procedures, and maintaining strong employee relationships. The Maintenance Mechanic will represent the company professionally with customers and vendors, identify improvement opportunities, and engage team members in process improvements.

Requirements

  • Must be comfortable with heights (use of scissors lift is frequent).
  • Must be comfortable with electrical equipment (rectifier work needed).
  • Must be comfortable with chemicals (repairs to chemical vats is frequent).
  • Must be comfortable communicating at all levels of the organization, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and taking input from subject matter experts.
  • Must be comfortable in conditions that can become cold in the winter and quite warm in the summer months.
  • Requires broad-based knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing, HVAC.
  • Minimum of two years of work-related experience.
  • Blueprint and schematic knowledge required.
  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely, creative manner.
  • Must maintain a “Hands-on” style, willing and capable of taking a lead role in technical problem-solving efforts.
  • Keen eye for detail to identify potential issues before they escalate.
  • Strong team player and ability to influence positive outcomes.
  • Encouraging collaboration and fostering a positive team dynamic.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees, vendors, and customers at all levels.
  • Must be able to wear respiratory protection when required.
  • Must be able to lift 30-50 lbs. unassisted.

Nice To Haves

  • An associate degree in Electro-Mechanical or another related Mechanical field is preferred, but not necessary.
  • Preferred experience with PLC (Programming Logic Controller) required.
  • Preferred experience with VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) required.
  • Lean manufacturing experience preferred.
  • ISO certification experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with other departments and individuals to investigate and solve maintenance related problems throughout all areas of the facility.
  • Ensure vendor issues are resolved effectively and efficiently.
  • Assists in maintaining department documentation, inventory, preventative maintenance schedules, and project log.
  • Accountable for maintaining the department’s annual budget, ongoing PO processing, and vendor approval.
  • Works with the other divisions as necessary to ensure full maintenance training and support throughout the company.
  • Accountable for all OSHA-required safety training and administration within the department.
  • Works on job duties and assignments as they relate to maintenance, repair, installing, fabricating, adjusting, troubleshooting, and any other maintenance duties as needed.
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions and operating difficulties.
  • Perform mechanical, electrical, and plumbing operations.
  • Coordinates start-up and shutdown functions on plant equipment and facilities with Maintenance Technicians.
  • Respond to emergency calls as needed.
  • Works consistently to resolve cited safety issues promptly.
  • Working safely at all times in compliance with OSHA safety and EPA regulations.
  • Adheres to all Quality System procedures and work instructions.
  • Maintains strong relationships with employees including continuous communication and performance feedback to recognize contributions and address performance gaps.
  • Promotes communication and teamwork with a focus on safety, quality, efficiency, and good housekeeping throughout the plant.
  • Works in conjunction with Human Resources on all personnel issues including performance management and necessary disciplinary actions defined in the Pioneer Metal Finishing handbook.
  • Represents the company professionally when always interacting with customers and vendors.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and potential solutions to close the gap.
  • Engages team members in implementing process improvements.
  • Performs other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as needed.
