About The Position

Standex International is a global industrial growth company operating through its market-leading brands in electronics, cutting-edge forming technologies, engraving, and scientific refrigeration. Spincraft, a part of the global Standex International team, has been utilizing metal spinning and forming for over 100 years to solve manufacturing challenges. The Engineering Technologies Group (ETG) is a division of Spincraft with four locations worldwide. The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for the overall performance and process of production within the plant, managing and directing all manufacturing personnel to achieve production efficiencies, world-class quality, and on-time delivery. This role collaborates with other site functional leaders to ensure effective communication and teamwork that drives the completion of site objectives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years in a plant management or operations manager role, preferably in a machining or sheet metal fabrication organization
  • Practical knowledge of cost accounting
  • Proven Lean Manufacturing experience
  • Reliable transportation
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrates a high level of Emotional Intelligence when dealing with all levels of the company, clients, and vendors
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn other software
  • Proficient knowledge of EPR systems, Epicor preferred
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
  • Ability to effectively manage time, multitask, and pay close attention to details
  • Self-motivated professional with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Regularly required to move, sit, and bend for various hours throughout the day

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, logistics, or related field is preferred, but not required
  • Experience in a union manufacturing environment preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and directing manufacturing operations, ensuring Key Performance Indicators in Operational Efficiency, Quality, Delivery, and Safety are met or exceeded
  • Delegating work assignments, managing operations to the annual plan, reviewing backlog and future plan, and ensuring KPI – data stuff and whatnot
  • Track competencies of subordinates, provide leadership, and training as required to achieve the objectives
  • Execute manufacturing production schedules and engineering-defined processes
  • Identify, research, and implement effective root cause and corrective action plans that result in reduced cost of poor quality
  • Assist in the development of and execute the yearly manufacturing plan to deliver the business objectives and production volumes
  • Drive, support, and lead continuous improvement projects relating to manufacturing cost, quality, safety, and increased throughput
  • Ensure compliance to all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and improve workplace organization and 6S initiatives
  • Manage shop capacity by assessing manufacturing operations, staffing, and skill requirements, machine capabilities, and efficiency. Develop plans to address needs
  • Proactively participate in cross-department collaboration for strategic planning and business objectives
  • Work with the Materials and Program Management team for managing production backlog and future planning
  • Utilize reporting and analytics to make data-driven decisions to meet production needs
  • Attending trainings, meetings, and participating in continuous improvement programs
  • Hold Shop Team accountable to goals and objectives set by the Company and Operations Manager
  • Participate in union activities such as contract negotiation, grievances, etc.
  • Train and mentor new team members and be an ambassador of our culture
  • Delegate job assignments and review workload as necessary
  • Maintain employee schedules, such as approving time-off & staff coverage
  • Collaborate with Human Resources for employee performance discussions, recruitment needs, hiring, and terminations
  • Work to resolve interpersonal issues and conflicts as they arise
  • Advocate a safe and professional work environment
