About The Position

As a Manufacturing Maintenance Mold/Setup Technician, you’ll be the go-to expert that prepares, installs, and calibrates molds, tooling, and auxiliary equipment for plastic extrusion or injection blow molding machines. You will troubleshoot production issues, adjust machine parameters (temperature, pressure, etc.), and ensure quality standards. From cleaning molds to changing over and troubleshooting complex machinery, you’ll be the backbone of our manufacturing success.

Requirements

  • 3 – 5 + years of experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically with blow molding machinery.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical.
  • Ability to lift molds and perform manual tasks (bending, twisting, climbing).
  • Ability to use hand tools and perform mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of plastics, polymer materials, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
  • Proficient in reading technical manuals, blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to detect quality flaws and maintain precision settings.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Familiarity with CMMS software and preventive maintenance scheduling.
  • A proactive mindset and the ability to work independently and or as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Mold Maintenance,including but not limited to cleaning, polishing, and lubricating molds, pins, locking rings, and cores to remove flash, plastic buildup, and debris.
  • Installing, aligning, and removing molds for production, including changeovers and changing accessory devices.
  • Setting up blow molding equipment, adjusting temperatures, parison programming, and blow pin settings.
  • Identifying and fixing production issues (e.g., flash, thin walls, uneven distribution) to minimize quality downtime.
  • Adjusting machine settings (pressure, timing) to meet quality standards and production speeds.
  • Inspecting and weighing finished products to ensure specifications are met. along with proficiency in using precision measuring tools.
  • Performing minor mechanical repairs and routine maintenance on molds and machinery.
  • Recording production data, downtime, and material usage.
  • Provide technical expertise and training to maintenance and Setup team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, production, and quality teams to minimize downtime and optimize machine performance.
  • Ensure that proper hand-off at the end of shift to production and scheduling.
  • Ensure end of shift reports are maintained and properly filled out.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and update equipment records in our CMMS (MaintainX).
  • Assist in equipment installations, upgrades, and process improvements.
  • Able to effectively communicate any issues to all team members as well as to operational team.
  • Follow all safety protocols including LOTO, GMP, and PPE policies and contribute to a culture of workplace safety.
