About The Position

The Operator - Winding position performs all tasks involved in the production of the company’s products. This includes performing the proper preventive maintenance and tending to equipment, manufacture and inspect product following standard operating procedures. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. This is a second shift role: Sunday through Thursday, 8 PM - 6:30 AM. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior production or manufacturing experience, preferred.
  • Must stand to feed the equipment with raw material, troubleshoot machinery and move product to the next manufacturing process.
  • Must walk across different departments to bring in new material, remove full skids and move bins to the correct areas.
  • Must frequently lift bins of full bobbins weighing approximately 30 lb and occasionally 50 lb.
  • Must pull or push bins with bobbins onto carts and push the carts to the next manufacturing process.
  • Must often pull pallet jack with full spools weighing 100+ lb into the Winding area.
  • Must frequently carry 20 lb spools to its designated winding machine.
  • Must place bobbins into the machine, thread, hold and cut yarn from spools and lift trays of bobbins.
  • Must be able to bend to pick up spools, bobbins, and trays of materials to and from winding equipment.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors of bobbins to place them on the correct equipment.
  • Must verbally communicate with supervisor and team about safety, quality, and production.
  • Must be able to listen to teammates and be aware of forklift traffic around the factory.
  • Comprehend basic instructions, such as guidelines on templates for bobbin specifications.
  • Interpret documents, such as packaging and labeling details described on setup cards.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Utilize a computer to report defects and production quantities.
  • Comprehend complex issues and communicate effectively to diverse groups, such as observing defect patterns and communicate to supervisors and teammates.
  • Count parts to assemble correct bobbin quantities in bins.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks as assigned by supervisor.
  • Prepare, load, and tend to 2-4 machines to manufacture product.
  • Inspect and label product per quality requirements.
  • Troubleshoot the equipment and minimize downtime.
  • Track production utilizing the appropriate visual management or documentation tools.
  • Escalate safety, quality concerns or machine malfunction to the supervisor.
  • Wind and strip bobbins throughout the shift.
  • Move product to the designated area for the next manufacturing process.
  • Participate in team meetings and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
