About The Position

This position is responsible for ensuring that the Method of Manufacturing is correct, including the Bill of Operations and the Bill of Materials and all engineering related aspects of the job are addressed for completeness and correctness. This position also oversees the daily activities of the inventory control and WIP specialists staff, ensuring adequate levels of material and/or product inventories are maintained. The Manufacturing and Inventory Control Supervisor position reports to the Manufacturing Manager and is a Salary-Exempt position.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years of scheduling, inventory control or related experience.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Autocad (or similar) experience.
  • Analytical Problem Solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, communicate and submit monthly margin review.
  • Assist in developing and entering Bill of Operations processing steps.
  • Perform all production-related quoting activities.
  • Perform Engineering Change Notice (ECN) distribution throughout the facility as it affects live orders (jobs), inventory, etc.
  • Function as the liaison between operations and design engineering, participating in the development and resolution of design issues with engineering.
  • Supervise production planning, inventory and material analyst associates to ensure accurate and timely scheduling, inventory management and job completion.
  • Frequently and consistently communicates status updates to the Fulfillment Manager.
  • Establish parameters to control inventory levels and locations.
  • Conduct analysis of inventory discrepancies and collaborate with necessary departments to mitigate recurrence of issues.
  • Monitor cycle count programs and ensure consistency and accuracy; review and assist with count discrepancies.
  • Work with Accounting personnel to review and understand the obsolescence reserve, including identification of special reserves for known excess or slow-moving inventory (i.e., product line discontinuation or manufacturing process changes).
  • Determine timing of removal of such parts from the inventory system and whether to retain tossed inventory in Maintenance stock.
  • Oversee aging material to ensure efficient storage and retrieval processes.
  • Coordinate timing and process of year-end inventory with the Accounting team; minimize disruption to operations; review and assist with count discrepancies.
  • Utilize Epicor ERP and Qlik business intelligence apps to monitor inventory, schedule and materials issues on an on-going basis.
  • Manage personnel issues including but not limited to vacation approvals, time card approval, daily and weekly overtime, and employee discipline as required.
  • Initiate, coordinate, and enforce systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor, identify and continually seek improvements relating to scrap and rework issues.
  • Monitor, identify and continually seek cost improvements on low margin orders/products.
  • Perform all job functions in compliance with safety guidelines and company policies/procedures.
  • Perform special projects as directed, as well as other duties as assigned.
  • Support Capital Expenditure enhancements for justification.
  • Directly manage and provide leadership to inventory and wip teams.
  • Establish and lead the day-to-day priorities of the process and employees.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to direct reports.
  • Mentor the specialty production teams and promote employee development and work responsibilities.
