About The Position
Maravai LifeSciences is seeking a Manufacturing Intern to join our Manufacturing team at TriLink BioTechnologies. This role offers hands-on experience supporting mRNA-based workflows and developing a strong foundation in nucleic acid production. The core project involves contributing to the design and validation of untranslated region (UTR) sequences for mRNA. The intern will collaborate with scientists in the Operations Technical Support team to design, optimize, and implement standard protocols for PCR methods specific to new UTRs designed by the TriLink Europe team.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Biology, Chemistry, Bioengineering, or a related life science discipline.
- Foundational understanding of molecular biology concepts (e.g., DNA, RNA, gene expression) preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and validation of untranslated region (UTR) sequences for mRNA.
- Design, optimization, and implementation of standard protocols for PCR methods unique to new UTRs.
- Primer design.
- PCR amplification of DNA.
- In-vitro transcription of mRNA.
- Silica purification of mRNA.
- Fragment Analysis of mRNA and DNA, along with data interpretation.
- Analysis of advanced mRNA analytics.
- SOP and batch record use and drafting.
- Process transfer to manufacturing.
- Building production cost models.
