About The Position

This opportunity resides with Warfare Systems (WS), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Warfare Systems comprises cyber and mission IT; electronic warfare; and C5ISR systems. HII works within our nation’s intelligence and cyber operations communities to defend our interests in cyberspace and anticipate emerging threats. As an Intern, you will actively contribute to meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior leadership. Support the Engineering team with engineering functions in one or more of the following specialties: electronics, electrical, and/or mechanical. Assist with troubleshooting issues and provide technical support. Applicants will be involved in all stages of R&D projects as well as product development projects.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be actively enrolled in a 2-4 year college/university working towards an Bachelor's degree with up to 20% of the required credits completed.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Ability to Obtain Security Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as machining, assembly, automation, or quality control.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Comfortable using measurement tools and data collection methods.
  • Strong computer skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, and basic data analysis.
  • Effective communication skills to work with cross‑functional teams on the shop floor and in engineering.
  • Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and willing to learn in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers with basic design, testing, and documentation tasks.
  • Support data collection, analysis, and reporting for ongoing projects.
  • Help review engineering drawings, specifications, and procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, quality, or manufacturing activities.
  • Work hands on on Production/Prototype floor under supervision.
  • Complete assigned projects and present findings to the engineering team.
