About The Position

The Schenectady Cores and Castings Team is seeking an intern to contribute to the acceleration of advanced investment casting production and new product casting development. This role will involve hands-on experience in implementing GE Vernova's Zero Defect Framework to meet increasing industry demands within the Quality team of the factory. GE Vernova's mission is to electrify the world while helping to decarbonize it, and this role supports that mission by working with advanced, cleaner, and more efficient power technologies.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in undergrad or graduate degree.
  • Pursuing a degree in Engineering, Industrial/Engineering Management, Data Analytics or related field of study.
  • Demonstrated academic achievement and interest in process improvement, technical problem solving and supply chain experience.
  • Ability to work in a team environment (in-person), communicate clearly, and follow through on commitments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Legal authorization to work in the country where the internship is based, as required by local law and program guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Support advancing the Built in Quality (BIQ) framework on the shop floor to introduce improved daily defect tracking and reduction along with real-time daily problem solving for all product and process issues.
  • Assist in visual management projects including Material Review Board (MRB) layout and tracking, Non-Conformance identification, Scrap containment, and Shipping submission and flow.
  • Work with other Quality, Process, and Product engineers in implementing and tracking trials on process improvement projects as well as new equipment installations and qualifications.
  • Own AI and Digitization efforts in creating part and trial tracking tools, as well as yield and Statistical Process Control (SPC) capture and visualization.
  • Learn specific inspection technologies such as Borescope and some Non-Destructive Testing processes and reviews to assess product quality and make decisions, with some lab exposure to destructive testing.
  • Facilitate Quality Management System (QMS) adherence through quality document creation, maintenance, and tracking.
  • Participate in Lean activities to execute shop floor flow and process improvement initiatives identified by factory leadership.
