About The Position

The Manufacturing Intern will support manufacturing operations through day-to-day production activities and/or structured improvement projects. This role provides hands-on exposure to production systems, frontline operations, and continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment. The intern works under the direction of the Production Manager and collaborates closely with supervisors, leads, and cross-functional partners.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations or a related field.
  • Strong interest in manufacturing operations.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel; comfort working with data.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and comply with all safety and food safety requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to engage with frontline teams.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal teams to develop short duration projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily production activities to ensure safe, efficient operations aligned with standard operating procedures.
  • Observe and learn production processes across processing, packaging, material handling, and sanitation.
  • Assist Production Managers and Supervisors with shift preparation, documentation, and follow-up actions.
  • Participate in daily production meetings, huddles, and floor walks.
  • Collect and analyze production data such as output, downtime, scrap, yield, labor utilization, and schedule adherence.
  • Support production reporting and visual management updates.
  • Identify trends and improvement opportunities using data.
  • Support improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and waste reduction.
  • Participate in 5S, standard work, and problem-solving activities.
  • Document current-state processes and assist with improvement recommendations.
  • Support implementation and follow-up of approved actions.
  • Assist in creating or updating SOPs, work instructions, and visual controls.
  • Ensure documentation reflects current production practices.
  • Support development of training materials and job aids.
  • Understand how safety, quality, cost, delivery, and people interact on the production floor.
  • Develop skills in problem-solving, data analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Build professional communication skills in a manufacturing leadership environment.
