About The Position

General Motors (GM) is seeking Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer Interns to engage in hands-on work that contributes to the company's culture and bottom line. Interns will gain experience in providing mechanical support for programs and leading mechanical projects across various plant areas, including operations improvements and new/replacement programs. This role involves technical support and direction to support personnel and skilled trades, potentially including periodic repairs.

Requirements

Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechatronics.
Must be graduating between August 2027 and June 2029.
Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
Must be willing to work in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

Provide mechanical support for programs.
Lead mechanical projects for operations improvements and new/replacement programs.
Provide technical support and direction to support personnel/skilled trades.
Perform mechanical root cause analysis and problem-solving.
Analyze product, process, and technology to determine optimal manufacturing methods.
Assist in the design and building of tools and equipment, or recommend improvements to existing processes.
Assist maintenance personnel in the operation and maintenance of specialized equipment.
Troubleshoot special maintenance and equipment problems.
Coordinate machinery upgrade projects.
Lift or carry materials weighing up to 15 pounds and periodically carry or lift materials weighing up to 40 lbs.
Occasionally sit, climb (including ladders and lifts) and drive vehicles and equipment.
