First Solar (US)•Trinity, AL
•$22 - $26

About The Position

First Solar interns gain real-world experience across areas such as research and development, marketing, project development, information technology, engineering, and energy services. Interns are challenged to develop skills and contribute to the company’s sustainable energy mission through collaboration, innovation, learning from failures, and personal accountability. The internship is expected to last at least three months during the fall or spring, with extensions based on project needs. Interns may enroll in classes as long as coursework does not interfere with the position’s essential functions. Interns are encouraged to register their internship with their university. This intern will support site yield improvements and continuous improvement projects related to solar-panel wattage. The intern will perform basic scrap-data analysis, report daily status, support investigations, learn scrap-handling and JMP statistical software, and work with different groups to collect, organize, and report observations and root-cause analyses. The role also involves preparing and presenting PowerPoint materials in technical forums, writing and deploying standard operating procedures on the factory floor, learning production-floor logistics, supporting experiments, and preparing samples for laboratory work. The intern must be able to work first or second shift as needed and present accomplishments and a project summary to the leadership team upon completion. The position includes hybrid and office physical requirements. Duties may involve sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, handling objects, lifting, pushing or pulling up to 37 pounds occasionally, and wearing required personal protective equipment. Candidates must be able to comply with safety standards and procedures. Candidates receiving an offer must successfully complete a background check and any other required tests. First Solar is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to diversity, inclusion, and reasonable accommodation.
