About The Position

As a Manufacturing Instructor at CMC, you will play a vital role in developing the next generation of skilled machinists by leading our Machining Apprenticeship Program, delivering hands-on technical training, and helping employees build the skills needed to succeed in precision manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Journeyperson or NIMS certification required
  • High School Education with Vo-Tech or Technical School background or equivalent with at least 10 years machining experience required
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience directly related to the teaching of manufacturing technology skills
  • Knowledge of machining techniques and methods
  • Strong programming knowledge with Mastercam experience a plus
  • Familiarity with CNC Machine tool operating procedures
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to lead and deliver structured curriculum
  • Must possess knowledge of algebra, geometry, blueprints, GD&T
  • Good computer and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to be self-directed and make sound decisions with a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to learn new technology and apply the new technology in a lab environment
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and safely carry up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing shop environment (including hot, cold and/or noisy areas)
  • Frequent hand to finger, handle, feel objects & tools, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking and hearing
  • Ability to be flexible in order to ensure proper instruction of off-shift students

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality, occupational instruction to CMC employees in manufacturing technology skill competencies
  • Create syllabi, course materials, assignments, and assessments to support course learning outcomes
  • Utilize diverse instructional strategies in response to student learning style
  • Work with management to identify training needs and plan and develop curriculum and lesson plans accordingly
  • Design and maintain effective testing instruments to evaluate overall effectiveness and impact of delivered training
  • Manage CMC’s Machining Apprenticeship programs in accordance to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry standards
  • Use up-to-date and relevant resources and technology to support working labs and instruction
  • Provide appropriate feedback to department managers and students while encouraging and monitoring progress
  • Provide sound leadership, guidance, and motivation to students
  • Maintain timely and accurate, complete records of students’ attendance, progress and development
  • Be an active and participative member in industry events to ensure up-to-date learning procedures
  • Maintain integrity and confidentiality in all circumstances, especially concerning student data
  • Adhere to Employee’s responsibilities outlined in Cygnus’ Health & Safety Policy
