About The Position

FlightWave, a wholly owned subsidiary of Red Cat Holdings, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II to develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes and systems to support the efficient production of advanced drone systems in the aerospace and defense sector. This role will ensure high-quality, cost-effective manufacturing through process design, lean practices, and continuous improvement efforts. The ideal candidate has a strong background in aerospace manufacturing standards and can drive initiatives to improve variability, productivity, quality, and compliance in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–6 years of aerospace industrial or manufacturing engineering experience (UAV, aerospace, defense, or high-precision manufacturing preferred).
  • Proficiency in CAD and manufacturing software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ERP/MRP systems
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing methods such as machining, composites, assembly, and automation.
  • Expertise in lean manufacturing principles, process validation, and statistical process control.
  • Excellent problem-solving, data analysis, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and aerospace standards.
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense and aerospace compliance standards.
  • Experience with automation systems or Industry 4.0 technologies.

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and PMP preferred

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement efficient manufacturing processes and workflows for UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) assembly and component production
  • Analyze production metrics, identify bottlenecks, and recommend improvements to reduce cycle time, scrap, and rework
  • Expand and optimize manufacturing workflow, material flow, line balancing, and floor layout by applying lean concepts
  • Collaborate with design, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure manufacturability of new products and seamless production ramp-up
  • Lead lean manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, value stream mapping, and Kaizen events
  • Create and maintain documentation such as work instructions, SOPs, PFMEAs, and process control plans
  • Support the integration of automation and digital manufacturing tools to improve process capability
  • Conduct time studies, cost analysis, and capacity planning for current and future production needs
  • Ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards including AS9100, ITAR, and ISO requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
