Location/Division Specific Information: Charlotte, North Carolina, United States How Will You Make an Impact: Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to support our manufacturing operations on 12 hour Night shift. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on industrial production equipment, including extruders, knitters, auxiliary equipment, custom equipment, and facility. This position is ideal for a mechanically inclined technician with strong electrical and diagnostic experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years' experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience working as a mechanic or technician
  • Electrical diagnostics (120V–480V systems)
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics troubleshooting
  • Mechanical systems troubleshooting & repair (bearings, belts, couplings, alignment)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics
  • Strong documentation and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a cGMP environment
  • Motor controls and VFD troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of AC/DC drives
  • Experience with industrial automation systems
  • CMMS experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on injection molding machines and associated auxiliary equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical systems, including motors, controls, sensors, relays, and AC/DC drives
  • Diagnosing mechanical failures involving hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, pumps, and drive systems
  • Support troubleshooting of PLC-controlled equipment (basic fault tracing and component replacement)
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, ladder logic, and technical manuals
  • Maintain and repair HVAC and facility support systems as needed
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent repeat failures
  • Document maintenance activities and work orders in SAP
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Production teams to improve equipment uptime and reliability
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on OEE, reliability, and process stability
  • Follow OSHA and company safety standards including LOTO procedures
