About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician is a primarily desk-based engineering coordinator and day-to-day backup to the Manufacturing Engineering team, with regular visits to the production floor. The role coordinates engineering change orders and notices, manufacturing work instructions, deviation records, and cross-functional action items from initiation through documented closure. The successful candidate is proactive, organized, responsive to production needs, and able to support routine manufacturing engineering activities when engineers are occupied or unavailable. Engineering judgment, technical dispositions, and final approvals remain with authorized personnel. The position coordinates change implementation across Manufacturing Engineering, Document Control, Quality, Production, Planning, Purchasing, Inventory, and other stakeholders. It maintains controlled documentation, supports production-floor requests, tracks engineering actions, and assists with first-article, pilot, new-product-introduction, and product-transfer builds. The role is expected to uphold quality and support organizational change. Duties may change at management’s discretion.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience in manufacturing engineering support, production technical support, engineering documentation, document control, or change coordination.
  • Ability to work on-site and comply with applicable manufacturing safety and quality procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree or technical certificate in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering Technology, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant manufacturing experience is considered.
  • Experience creating or updating work instructions and coordinating engineering changes in a controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in semiconductor equipment, precision manufacturing, electromechanical assembly, ISO 9001, or ERP/PLM/MES systems.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, route, track, and coordinate engineering change order and engineering change notice packages, including descriptions, affected part numbers, revision levels, attachments, approvals, effective dates, and closure evidence.
  • Coordinate approved engineering change implementation with Manufacturing Engineering, Document Control, Quality, Production, Planning, Purchasing, Inventory, and other stakeholders.
  • Check drawings, bills of materials, routings, work instructions, and ERP/PLM records for completeness and consistency with approved changes; escalate discrepancies.
  • Track impact assessments involving inventory, work-in-process, open orders, tooling, fixtures, training, and production cut-in, and follow up on assigned actions through closure.
  • Maintain an ECO dashboard with owners, priorities, aging, blockers, due dates, and implementation status; communicate overdue items and risks.
  • Draft, revise, format, and maintain manufacturing work instructions, operating procedures, visual aids, checklists, process-flow documents, and controlled forms with engineering input.
  • Gather photographs, process steps, tools, materials, safety and quality checkpoints, and inspection requirements on the production floor; verify drafts with process owners.
  • Coordinate document review, approval, release, revision history, obsolescence, and point-of-use availability through document-control procedures.
  • Help ensure released work instructions align with approved drawings, BOMs, routings, and process requirements; support training records and document-readiness audits.
  • Assist engineers with manufacturing deviation or temporary-change requests by collecting relevant facts, part/lot/serial details, quantities, supporting documents, and proposed duration for review.
  • Track deviation approvals, expiration dates, affected work-in-process, implementation instructions, and closure; do not independently approve technical dispositions.
  • Coordinate routine production-floor requests, gather facts, assist within approved instructions, and escalate technical decisions to the responsible engineer.
  • Provide day-to-day engineering backup by triaging support requests, coordinating production follow-up, preparing build documentation, collecting floor data and photographs, and supporting first-article, pilot, NPI, and product-transfer builds.
  • Maintain action-item logs, engineering support requests, open-issue lists, and documentation backlogs with owners, priorities, tool management, and due dates.
  • Gather basic production data and support 6S, standard work, visual management, error-proofing, and corrective-action documentation under engineering direction.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings, provide concise updates, support changing priorities, follow up with stakeholders, and drive assigned commitments to closure.
  • Perform other related duties reasonably assigned in the course of business and maintain an overriding commitment to quality.
