About The Position

Price Industries Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Designer for its Noise Control manufacturing facility located in Suwanee, GA – Crestridge Dr. Plant. This role will ensure all special and custom job packages and drawings are complete, accurate, and ready for production before release to the manufacturing floor. This position will review drawing and BOM packages for accuracy, completeness, manufacturability, and align with the capabilities of our manufacturing equipment and processes. The position will work closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Control, Quality and Production to identify and resolve issues before they impact production.

Requirements

• Associates Degree in Drafting, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing-based engineering role.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and sheet metal drawings.
• Understanding of principles and practices in a manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated ability to identify discrepancies, missing information, and potential manufacturing issues
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Demonstrated problem solving and analytic skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across departments

Nice To Haves

• Experience in sheet metal fabrication, welding, or metal product manufacturing
• Experience reviewing engineering drawings and BOMs prior to production release
• Experience with sheet metal fabrication equipment including lasers, punch presses, shears, press brakes, and welding equipment
• Excellent written, communication and presentation skills.
• Experience with Design For Manufacturability (DFM)
• Strong understanding of sheet metal materials, gauges, bend allowances, tolerances, and fabrication processes

Responsibilities

• Review special and custom job packages prior to production release to ensure all required drawings and BOMs are included and complete.
• Verify BOMs against drawings to ensure all required components, quantities, materials, and specifications are accurate and consistent
• Review drawings for accuracy, clarity, materials, finishes, and other information required for manufacturing
• Evaluate drawings and BOMs to confirm that parts can be manufactured using available sheet metal fabrication equipment and processes
• Work with Design Engineering to support best practices and develop drawings standards
• Identify potential manufacturing issues related to material type, thickness, forming requirements, hole locations, welding, tolerances, or other design characteristics
• Conduct time studies and data analysis to establish accurate labor costs, capacity and standards
• Verify that parts can be produced on equipment including lasers, turrets, punch presses, shears, press brakes, notchers, welding, and other fabrication machinery
• Identify missing, conflicting, or unclear information and work with Design Engineering to resolve issues prior to production.
• Help develop and maintain manufacturing metrics to identify and establish performance expectations
• Review special jobs for needed parts, assembly requirements, and overall package completeness
• Work with Manufacturing Engineering to identify opportunities to improve Design For Manufactability (DFM) and standardize special/custom products
• Support Production Control and Production by providing clarification and resolving drawing or BOM-related questions during the manufacturing process
• Help identify recurring drawing and BOM issues and communicate trends to Design Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering for corrective action
• Support corporate initiatives focused on reducing production rework, scrap, and delays caused by engineering or documentation issues
