About The Position

Kondex is looking for a 1st shift Manufacturing Engineering Technician/CNC Programmer. Hours: 1st shift, Monday - Friday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. Hours can fluctuate depending on customer requirements and training needs. Reports to Manager of Manufacturing Engineering. The Manufacturing Engineering Technician/CNC Programmer is responsible for performing a variety of technical assignments in direct support of engineering and manufacturing efforts, including those efforts necessary to launch new products; fixture specification, CNC programming; defining process and operating parameters; investigation and evaluation of process capabilities and problems; expediting the design and construction of prototypes; equipment specification and purchasing; assisting with machinery repairs and maintenance; and ensuring that effective operator training is in place for new and revised processes.

Requirements

  • Technical training and experience using Mastercam CNC programming software or a comparable software, including 5 axis control programming required.
  • 2-3 years of work experience in a technical role, with emphasis on multi-axis CNC programming
  • Must be able to work independently, with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Experience reading company documents, such as blueprints and other instructions
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in mechanical/ manufacturing engineering or Journeyman status in appropriate technical discipline preferred. Additional experience may substitute for education preference.
  • Experience in designing or implementing cells, flow lines or other manufacturing processes
  • Machinery maintenance or tool and die experience
  • Proficiency in using 3D software, preferably SolidWorks
  • experience with MS Project is preferred
  • Highly desirable behavioral competencies include communication team management, problem solving and decision making, high standards and organizing and planning

Responsibilities

  • Specify machinery and equipment for new products and product improvements, as assigned, and oversee its installation and startup
  • Perform CNC programming in Mastercam CNC programming software, including 5 axis control programming
  • Assist in the development of tooling, fixtures, and process controls
  • Document all initiated process changes in an appropriate manner (work instructions, routings, etc) and maintain records of changes, as necessary
  • Ensure effective operator training is in place for new and revised processes
  • Perform CNC and robotic production support
  • Construct prototypes for internal and field testing, as directed by Product Engineering
  • Perform process (new product and process improvement) testing and prepare test reports, along with recommendations
  • Render technical assistance in areas of design, construction and testing of components and processes
  • Recommend suppliers and assist in qualifying new suppliers
  • Assist with PPAP and APQP activities, such as capability studies, FMEA’s, control plans, etc.
