Manfacturing Test Engineer
About The Position
FHP Manufacturing, located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is a joint venture between Robert Bosch (BOSCH Group) and Carrier Corporation. FHP Manufacturing is a leader in the production of geothermal and water source heat pumps, providing some of the most efficient heating and cooling comfort solutions in the industry. This role serves as the first escalation point of contact for testing and programming operations, including Leak Test, Final Run Test, Motor Programming, and Controller Programming. The position requires efficient communication with end-of-line test associates to provide quick support and guarantee daily production targets. It also involves supporting the proper operation and maintenance of testing and programming equipment, ensuring accessories for testing are available, and troubleshooting failures of heat pumps and test equipment to find root causes and provide resolutions. The role includes reporting issues using the FPY report, driving improvements with basic problem-solving techniques, and training operators on run-off stations. Additionally, the Manufacturing Test Engineer will validate troubleshooting information from Testbuilder software, create and update work instructions, recognize and suggest improvements to the test process, understand scripting and Boolean logic, and create complex testing algorithms.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or in lieu of a degree, High School diploma or GED with 7+ years of manufacturing, test technician or equipment maintenance troubleshooting experience.
- 0 - 2+ years of manufacturing and/or engineering experience.
- 0 - 2+ years of experience working in a team environment.
- Ability to use piping schematics, electrical wiring diagrams and work instructions to assure 100% unit compliance with quality standards and engineering design.
- Effective problem-solving skills using proven problem-solving methods.
- Good written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities
- Serve as the first escalation point of contact for testing and programming operations: Leak Test, Final Run Test, Motor Programming, and Controller Programming.
- Communicate efficiently with end-of-line test associates to provide them with quick support to guarantee daily production targets.
- Support proper operation and maintenance of testing and programming equipment on all assembly and support lines.
- Assure accessories used for testing operation are available for immediate replacement if necessary: Thermocouples, control cables, power plugs, etc.
- Troubleshoot failures of heat pumps and test equipment to locate root cause and provide resolution.
- Report issues and findings using the FPY report. Drive improvements using basic problem-solving techniques.
- Train or assist in training operators of run off stations to ensure tests are being properly performed, help to identify and resolve improvement opportunities and gaps with training.
- Validate troubleshooting information shown by Testbuilder software after any failure occurs is accurate and update work instructions and sequence cards as needed.
- Create and update work instructions to reflect current procedures in testing and validate improvement ideas with the test engineer.
- Recognize deficiencies in the test process and find options for improvement together with test engineer.
- Understand scripting and Boolean logic.
- Understand and create complex testing algorithms.
