About The Position

Thales Defense & Security, Inc. (TDSI) is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician to work in their Clarksburg, MD Campus. This position reports directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. TDSI, headquartered in Clarksburg, MD, is a U.S. company with over 60 years of experience serving the defense Air, Land, and Sea domains. With over 1,000 employees and four subsidiaries, TDSI provides a variety of communication, visualization, signal intelligence/electronic warfare, and sensor/sonar capabilities to U.S. Joint Services, special operations forces, and multinational partners. Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required. - Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications – Fluent in English.
  • 2 to 7 years of experience as an engineering technician.
  • Ability to work in a hands-on, fast changing, and team-oriented environment.
  • Applicant must have familiarity with electronic assemblies, and surface mount assemblies (SMT).
  • HS Diploma required.
  • Computer Skills with proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook; SAP a plus.
  • Ability to comply with all Company guidelines, policies, procedures and embrace Company Core Values.

Nice To Haves

  • SMTA Certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs manufacturing engineering support tasks of moderate complexity with supervision and technical direction of senior Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Provides technical guidance and support to production associates.
  • Learn to operate and assist in programming simple production equipment or tools.
  • Support fixture/tooling design activities and manage documentation.
  • Perform support functions to include parts ordering, material stocking, equipment calibration, repair and preventative maintenance.
  • Provides daily line setup for scheduled manufacturing runs and ensures materials set up for changeover.
  • Improve existing processes and design new production processes including assembly processes, throughput, and minimizing the required operator resources.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing work instructions.
  • Monitor processes to ensure quality and productivity goals are met.
