About The Position

We have been retained to recruit candidates for two engineering positions with an established manufacturer in San Antonio: a Quality Engineer / EMS Coordinator and a Project Engineer. These positions share a common foundation in manufacturing, injection molding, validation, problem-solving, and continuous improvement—but they have different areas of ownership: The Quality Engineer ensures that products and manufacturing processes meet quality, customer, and regulatory requirements. The Project Engineer leads the technical work required to introduce, transfer, validate, and improve products and manufacturing processes. Candidates do not need to meet every preferred qualification. The company is willing to consider developing engineers and technically capable manufacturing professionals who demonstrate strong aptitude, initiative, communication skills, and the ability to learn. Applicants may indicate a preference for either position or be considered for both.

Requirements

  • Experience in manufacturing quality, process quality, supplier quality, quality systems, or a closely related discipline.
  • Exposure to plastic injection molding is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, such as automotive, medical devices, aerospace, or another ISO-controlled industry.
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485, IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or comparable quality standards.
  • Working knowledge of root-cause analysis, CAPA, 8D, SPC, FMEA, control plans, and process capability.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality management, industrial technology, environmental science, or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent technical education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • ASQ certification or formal quality training is beneficial but not required.
  • Systematic, detail-oriented, and persistent.
  • Comfortable working directly with production personnel on the manufacturing floor.
  • Able to organize evidence, analyze data, and communicate technical findings clearly.
  • Willing to take ownership of corrective actions and follow them through completion.
  • Capable of balancing production needs with customer, quality, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, project engineering, tooling, automation, or a related technical role.
  • Plastic injection-molding experience is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of molds, resins, molding defects, process development, and manufacturing troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting product launches, transfers, tooling projects, or engineering changes.
  • Familiarity with validation, process capability, root-cause analysis, DOE, SPC, and FMEA.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, and technical data.
  • Experience in medical-device, automotive, consumer-product, or industrial manufacturing is beneficial.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, plastics, or a related engineering discipline is preferred; equivalent technical education and relevant hands-on experience may be considered.
  • Exposure to CAD, ERP systems, project-management tools, scientific molding, automation, robotics, or Lean/Six Sigma is beneficial.
  • Mechanically curious and comfortable working around manufacturing equipment and tooling.
  • Able to diagnose technical problems and translate findings into practical solutions.
  • Organized enough to manage multiple projects, suppliers, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Comfortable communicating with customers and coordinating across departments.
  • Hands-on, adaptable, and willing to take ownership from initial concept through production launch.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate production-quality issues and lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Prepare and manage CAPAs, 8Ds, and related customer responses.
  • Support customer, regulatory, certification, and internal audits.
  • Maintain and improve quality-system procedures, records, and documentation.
  • Monitor process performance using SPC, capability studies, trend analysis, and other quality tools.
  • Support APQP documentation, control plans, process flows, FMEAs, and product-validation activities.
  • Coordinate the review and disposition of nonconforming or held material.
  • Work with production, engineering, technicians, customers, and suppliers to resolve quality issues.
  • Support calibration, training, inspection, and medical-device batch-record requirements.
  • Help maintain ISO 14001 environmental-management processes, documentation, permits, reporting, waste-management practices, and improvement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve product quality, process consistency, compliance, and operational performance.
  • Lead new-product introductions, manufacturing transfers, engineering changes, and related technical projects.
  • Develop project schedules, identify risks, coordinate resources, and communicate program status.
  • Review customer requirements, drawings, specifications, CAD models, and mold designs.
  • Coordinate mold builds, mold trials, sampling activities, tooling modifications, and production-readiness reviews.
  • Support process development and establish reliable manufacturing parameters.
  • Lead or coordinate IQ, OQ, PQ, capability studies, and other validation activities.
  • Troubleshoot molding, tooling, material, automation, equipment, and secondary-process issues.
  • Coordinate with toolmakers, equipment suppliers, automation vendors, customers, production, maintenance, and quality personnel.
  • Develop and maintain process flows, control plans, FMEAs, validation records, and other launch documentation.
