About The Position

Silgan Closures, a global leader in sustainable packaging solutions and a Fortune 500 manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Evansville, Indiana. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will lead capital projects, continuous improvement initiatives, equipment reliability improvements, safety programs, preventive maintenance strategies, and process optimization efforts that support our manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for driving productivity, reducing costs, improving quality, supporting new product development, and ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field
  • Ability to travel up to 50% to assist plants in Hazleton, PA, Richmond, IN in addition to the Evansville, IN plant
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing engineering, plant engineering, industrial engineering, or project engineering experience
  • Experience leading engineering projects in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Experience using AutoCAD or similar design software
  • Strong financial and project budgeting experience
  • Experience with PFMEA and process improvement methodologies
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Support plant operations through project leadership, process improvements, and equipment optimization initiatives.
  • Develop, improve, and redesign manufacturing safety systems in compliance with Silgan standards and OSHA regulations.
  • Support other manufacturing locations in Hazleton, PA, Richmond, IN as well as Evansville, IN.
  • Lead capital projects from planning and budgeting through implementation and completion.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction, scrap reduction, and productivity improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and execute continuous improvement initiatives to increase manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
  • Drive equipment reliability improvements and preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime.
  • Evaluate production performance and identify opportunities for process optimization.
  • Manage annual plant capital expenditures and engineering project budgets.
  • Design, modify, and improve tooling to enhance product quality and tooling durability.
  • Support new product development, equipment installations, and production line expansions.
  • Analyze plant systems and equipment performance to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to execute engineering and operational projects.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for new technologies, systems, and manufacturing processes.
  • Create, interpret, and update mechanical drawings, electrical prints, and engineering documentation.
  • Support energy reduction initiatives and sustainability projects that reduce operating costs.
