About The Position

As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will support initiatives that improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee engagement across our pharmacy automation operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify improvement opportunities, analyze process performance, document current-state and future-state workflows, and help implement sustainable Lean and Six Sigma-based solutions that reduce waste and improve operational efficiency. The iA Intern Program is a 10-week summer internship, running from, Tuesday June 1, 2027, through Friday, August 6, 2027.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies (coursework or project experience preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a hands-on, team-oriented attitude.
  • Passion for innovation and improving manufacturing systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of problem-solving tools such as 5 Why, A3 Thinking, Fishbone Diagrams, or Root Cause Analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of Lean manufacturing initiatives to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance workflow.
  • Analyze existing manufacturing processes and assist in developing standard work instructions, process maps, and value stream analyses.
  • Assist with time studies, capacity analysis, and line balancing to optimize production efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to identify and resolve process bottlenecks and quality issues.
  • Participate in kaizen events, 5S audits, and other continuous improvement activities.
  • Collect and analyze data using tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Minitab to monitor process performance and support decision-making.
  • Prepare and present findings, recommendations, and implementation plans to the manufacturing engineering team.
  • Help implement mistake-proofing (poka-yoke) techniques and visual management tools to improve process reliability.
