About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager leads a team of Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians to support daily production, improve manufacturing processes, and successfully launch new products into production. This role is highly hands-on and visible on the shop floor, providing technical leadership, prioritization, and coaching while driving safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives. The manager ensures manufacturing processes are robust, well-documented, and continuously improving, while developing team capability and maintaining strong cross-functional partnerships with Design Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field, is required.
  • Strong hands-on manufacturing experience in CNC machining, assembly, brazing, or similar processes is required.
  • Proven experience leading or managing engineers and/or technicians in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Experience with RCCA, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision making.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment with frequent prioritization changes.
  • Deep understanding of GD&T, fixture design, work instruction development, and shop-floor problem solving.
  • High shop-floor engagement with a bias toward action and real-time problem solving.
  • Strong communicator who can translate technical issues into clear priorities and decisions.
  • Leads by example with respect to safety, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Comfortable making decisions with incomplete information while managing risk appropriately.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience driving Lean manufacturing or operational excellence initiatives, and applying Six Sigma methodology is preferred.
  • Experience supporting NPI and scaling products from prototype to production, is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CMM inspection, process capability, and quality systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance hands-on technical work with people leadership is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians, setting clear goals, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Provide daily direction and escalation support for shop-floor issues, ensuring rapid response and effective problem resolution.
  • Build technical depth and versatility within the team through mentoring, training, and standardized best practices.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and career development for engineers and technicians.
  • Maintain a strong daily presence on the shop floor to support production, troubleshoot issues, and remove barriers to flow.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes are capable, controlled, and supported with clear work instructions and standardized work.
  • Guide the team in fixture design (CNC, brazing, assembly), GD&T application, CMM inspection, and process validation.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance, calibration, and documentation for engineering tools, fixtures, and equipment are executed and tracked.
  • Lead manufacturing readiness for New Product Introduction, ensuring smooth transitions from development to production.
  • Partner with Design Engineering to influence DFM/DFA decisions and ensure manufacturability.
  • Oversee high level assembly builds, process development, and early production support during product launches.
  • Ensure lessons learned from NPI are captured and incorporated into standard processes.
  • Own the manufacturing response to quality issues, including containment, Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA), and permanent corrective actions.
  • Review and approve process changes, deviations, and corrective actions to ensure long-term robustness.
  • Use data-driven analysis to identify trends, prioritize improvement efforts, and support engineering decisions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, throughput, yield, and cost reduction.
  • Lead Kaizen events, line balancing efforts, and process optimization activities.
  • Support capital planning, line changes, and equipment moves from concept through process readiness and handoff to production.
  • Ensure improvements are documented, standardized, and sustained.
  • Act as the primary manufacturing engineering interface to Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Design Engineering.
  • Communicate status, risks, and priorities clearly to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Align engineering resources to production needs and business priorities.
