Manufacturing Engineering Manager

AtmosZeroLoveland, CO
$125,000 - $145,000

About The Position

This role is responsible for leading and scaling manufacturing operations, driving product industrialization, enabling production ramp, owning supplier technical strategy, building world-class processes, and ensuring quality, compliance, and safety. The position involves leading a high-performing manufacturing engineering team, defining and executing manufacturing strategies, and partnering cross-functionally with R&D, Product, Supply Chain, and Operations. Key areas of focus include Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA), optimizing designs for fabrication, assembly, and serviceability, overseeing pilot builds, validation, and manufacturing readiness, designing efficient layouts and production lines, implementing lean principles, developing capacity models, and standing up test systems. The role also requires acting as the engineering lead for critical suppliers, driving supplier quality and manufacturability, and resolving technical challenges. Building standardized processes, leading Lean/Six Sigma improvements, and establishing robust documentation are also key responsibilities. Ensuring compliance with industry standards (ASME, UL/ETL/CSA, HVAC) and championing safe practices for high-pressure, high-temperature, and refrigerant systems are critical.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related engineering field
  • 10+ years in manufacturing engineering (thermal systems, HVAC, boilers, or industrial equipment)
  • 3–5+ years leading engineering teams
  • Deep DFMA experience for thermal/fluid systems
  • Expertise in fabrication processes (welding, brazing, machining, forming)
  • Experience scaling from pilot to full production
  • Strong knowledge of heat transfer, pressure systems, and electro-mechanical assembly

Nice To Haves

  • ASME pressure vessel manufacturing experience
  • Background in boilers, steam systems, or industrial heat pumps
  • Six Sigma certification (Green/Black Belt)
  • ERP/MRP and manufacturing analytics familiarity

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a high-performing manufacturing engineering team
  • Define and execute manufacturing strategies aligned to growth and electrification
  • Partner cross-functionally with R&D, Product, Supply Chain, and Operations
  • Lead DFMA for boilers, steam systems, and heat pumps
  • Optimize designs for fabrication, assembly, and serviceability
  • Oversee pilot builds, validation, and manufacturing readiness
  • Design efficient layouts and production lines for large-scale equipment
  • Implement lean principles (flow, line balancing, cycle time reduction)
  • Develop capacity models, labor standards, and capital plans
  • Stand up and optimize test systems (pressure, thermal, performance)
  • Act as the engineering lead for critical suppliers (heat exchangers, coils, pressure vessels, compressors)
  • Drive supplier quality and manufacturability (PPAP/APQP, audits, DFMA alignment)
  • Resolve technical challenges for build-to-print components
  • Standardize processes (welding, brazing, leak testing, refrigerant handling)
  • Lead Lean / Six Sigma improvements across yield, throughput, and cost
  • Establish robust documentation, work instructions, and training systems
  • Maintain compliance with ASME, UL/ETL/CSA, and HVAC standards
  • Partner with Quality on root cause and corrective actions
  • Champion safe practices for high-pressure, high-temperature, and refrigerant systems

Benefits

  • Strong growth opportunity
