About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will lead manufacturing readiness activities for products moving from prototype through production. This role involves developing and maintaining routing, work instructions, and labor standards, ensuring BOMs, drawings, and specifications are complete for production. The manager will coordinate first-article builds and production launches, and partner with Product/Design Engineering and Operations to resolve manufacturability issues. They will also identify and address engineering gaps that create production delays, rework, or inefficiencies. Additionally, the role supports the release of work orders, troubleshoots manufacturing engineering issues affecting production, improves consistency in work processes, and addresses production constraints. The manager will lead manufacturing engineering activities for prototypes and new product introductions, providing hands-on support, especially in sheet metal fabrication. They will translate product concepts into practical manufacturing processes, develop repeatable processes for new products, and identify manufacturability risks early. Continuous improvement is key, involving leading Lean and Six Sigma initiatives, analyzing labor and cycle times, improving cell layouts, and reducing scrap and rework. The manager will also manage the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process, ensure effective implementation of changes, lead root cause analysis for defects, and support quality system compliance. Finally, the role includes leading and developing a small manufacturing engineering team, setting priorities, assigning work, coaching team members, and establishing practical processes.
