About The Position

Collins Aerospace is looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead the Manufacturing Engineering organization in a high-mix, high-volume aerospace metal-mechanics environment. This role is onsite in greater Austin, Texas area. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will establish and execute the Manufacturing Engineering strategy, ensuring alignment of product requirements, engineering specifications, manufacturing processes, technical data, and shop-floor execution. They will ensure compliance with NADCAP, AS9100, FAA, OSHA, environmental, and applicable aerospace quality and regulatory requirements. The role involves partnering with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Program Management, suppliers, and other sites to resolve manufacturing constraints and achieve business results. Optimization of processes, capacity, labor, equipment, tooling, cycle time, flow, and asset utilization is key, as is driving improvements in process capability, variation, productivity, scrap, rework, cycle time, cost, and equipment utilization. The manager will implement and mature Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement systems, lead manufacturing technology, automation, equipment, tooling, fixtures, and capital investments, and establish and monitor Manufacturing Engineering KPIs and reporting. They will ensure robust engineering standards, technical documentation, ERP/MES processes, data management, and manufacturing reporting, and lead manufacturing readiness for new product introduction, engineering changes, transfers, and production rate increases. Developing Manufacturing Engineering talent through technical coaching, standardization, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement is also a core responsibility. Travel up to 25% is required.

Requirements

  • University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
  • 8+ years of progressive Manufacturing Engineering experience, with demonstrated leadership of engineering teams and proven responsibility for manufacturing performance, technical strategy, and continuous improvement in an aerospace or automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, ERP, MES, and manufacturing data systems.
  • Strong knowledge of PFMEA, process capability, SPC, MSA, DOE, root-cause analysis, and structured problem solving.
  • Experience with automotive or aerospace metal-mechanics components and processes, including machining, welding, assembly, chemical processing, heat treatment, and related special processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with aerospace compliance and regulatory requirements, including NADCAP, AS9100, FAA, and customer-specific requirements, with demonstrated experience maintaining process compliance and audit readiness.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification, with proven success building a Continuous Improvement culture.
  • Experience implementing advanced Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Lean, automation, and process improvement practices.
  • Experience leading new product introduction, industrialization, engineering changes, transfers, and rate increases.
  • Experience with single-piece flow, mixed-model production, value stream optimization, and process standardization.

Responsibilities
