About The Position

Raytheon Vision Systems (RVS) is a world leader in the research, design, and manufacturing of focal plane arrays and flight-based vision systems supporting a myriad of defense, surveillance, space, and weather tracking applications. We have an opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer Manager to join our team in Goleta, California. This management position will be responsible for managing a team of Manufacturing Engineers to support various production, new product development, and transition to production programs.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Leadership/Management experience in an Engineering environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with vacuum dewar processing equipment, methods, and processes
  • Familiarity with a cleanroom work environment
  • Computer proficiency with demonstrated ability to learn new software applications
  • Familiarity with Supply Chain Management
  • Active secret clearance
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings or schematics
  • Experience using Six Sigma process improvement methods.
  • Knowledge in Statistical Analysis (SPC)
  • Experience in transition to production programs
  • Strategic and visionary planning, develop relationships and achieve buy-in from all relevant parties
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing systems. Shop floor control, BOM’s, Document control (SAP PRISM or Equivalent)

Responsibilities

  • Track and improve manufacturing metrics (Yields, Scrap, HPU, Cycle time and out of flow) to meet schedule, cost and quality targets.
  • Monitoring of established processes via data collection for statistical analysis purposes as well as the use of various continuous improvement enablers.
  • Analyzes and modifies product designs in collaboration with Design Engineering to assure manufacturability.
  • Develops design, selection, specification, and optimization of the required equipment, fixtures, tooling, gaging, processes, and operations.
  • Determines other technical matters required to make a given product according to the desired volume, timetable, cost, quality level, and other specifications.
  • Evaluate manufacturing capability and provide technical support at the supply base.
  • Lead/Manage a group of Manufacturing Engineering to ensure staffing and department budgets are met.
