About The Position

Otis Elevator Company is seeking motivated candidates for a paid Manufacturing Engineering internship at its Florence, South Carolina manufacturing facility. Interns assist with projects in the Manufacturing Department, gaining exposure to manufacturing engineering functions and continuous improvement initiatives. They work with stakeholders across Otis while developing project management and customer service skills. The internship requires a minimum of 10 hours per week during the academic year and 40 hours per week during the summer. Otis provides training and performance feedback, and additional career opportunities may be available after a successful internship.

Requirements

Currently pursuing an undergraduate engineering degree and remaining enrolled in an accredited degree program.
Ability to work in a highly team-oriented and dynamic environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Self-motivation and ability to manage several simultaneous projects and responsibilities.
Excellent analytical and technical skills.

Responsibilities

Support new programs and products through production, ensuring cost, delivery, and customer and internal specification requirements are met; coordinate with product, manufacturing, and quality engineering.
Read and understand blueprints, specifications, and work instructions.
Identify the tools and fixtures required to manufacture products to specifications.
Help ensure a safe working environment is established and maintained.
Develop, design, acquire, or create equipment to improve productivity, efficiency, and safety.
Document processes and follow change-management procedures when changes occur.
Apply Lean principles to set up and improve work cells.
