About The Position

This is a Co-op Opportunity for Engineering students to support driving output and quality improvements, supporting production lines, and identifying technical solutions for gaps in capacity and demand. The role involves supporting the Bosch Charleston plant, which has a long history in the Lowcountry and was established in 1974. The plant focuses on providing a safe and inspiring environment and creating state-of-the-art products. Students will gain experience in various aspects of manufacturing engineering, including problem-solving, process improvement, documentation, and design.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, mechanical, Electrical Engineering preferred).
Strong interest in special machinery, industrial automation, or manufacturing systems, particularly within the automotive industry.
Familiarity with engineering principles, concept development, and system-level thinking.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Responsibilities

Support driving output and quality improvements.
Support production lines.
Identify technical solutions for gaps in capacity and demand.
Coordinate problem-solving or troubleshooting activities on equipment or process issues.
Communicate project status to operational and departmental management.
Develop software tools to improve data transparency.
Develop plans for production trials, focusing on equipment and process quality and technical documentation.
Assist with training and documentation for hourly and salaried associates.
Troubleshoot production problems and their root causes.
Update machine drawings to improve equipment robustness or stability.
Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation and quality plans according to company standards (Work Instructions, Control Plans, PFMEA's, gage logs, etc.).
Work with SolidWorks to improve the design of machining fixtures, gages, and robots' grippers.
Help develop workplace layouts and material flow.
