About The Position

This is a Co-op Opportunity for Engineering students to support driving output and quality improvements, supporting production lines, and identifying technical solutions for gaps in capacity and demand. The role involves identification and coordination of problem-solving or troubleshooting activities on equipment or process issues, communication with management on project status, development of software tools to improve data transparency, and developing plans for production trials with a focus on equipment and process quality and technical documentation. The co-op will also assist with training and documentation for associates, troubleshoot production problems and their root causes, update machine drawings, help develop and maintain manufacturing documentation and quality plans, work with SolidWorks to improve designs of machining fixtures, gages, robots' grippers, and WPC, and help develop workplace layouts and material flow.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, mechanical, Electrical Engineering preferred).
  • Strong interest in special machinery, industrial automation, or manufacturing systems, particularly within the automotive industry.
  • Familiarity with engineering principles, concept development, and system-level thinking.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Identification and coordination of problem solving or troubleshooting activities on equipment or process issues
  • Communication through operational and departmental management on project status
  • Development of software tools to improve data transparency
  • Developing plan for production trials, with focus on equipment and process quality and technical documentation
  • Assisting with training and documentation with hourly and salaried associates
  • Troubleshoot production problems and their root causes
  • Update machine drawings to improve equipment robustness or stability
  • Help to develop and maintain manufacturing documentation and quality plans according to company standards: Work Instructions, Control Plans, PFMEA#s, gage logs, etc.
  • Work with Solid Work to improve design of machining fixtures, gages, robots’ grippers, WPC.
  • Help to develop workplace layouts and material flow.
