About The Position

The manufacturing engineer at Boyd Laconia provides technical expertise to support development, implementation, and fabrication of custom thermal management solutions. This engineering position serves as a hybrid role between a product and process engineer.

Requirements

  • BS in engineering with 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • General knowledge of ERP systems (Oracle preferred).
  • Knowledge of BOM structures and process routings.
  • Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Knowledge of DFM practices for a variety of product types.
  • Experience in tolerancing and GD&T.
  • Knowledge of machine shop practices in a variety of different areas.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, including Gantt charts.
  • Problem solving skills including root cause and corrective & preventative action.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with shifting priorities.
  • Working knowledge of NPI, 8D, Lean, DFM, PFMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP.
  • General knowledge of ISO9000 or AS9100 standards and performing audits.
  • Experience with Defense and Aerospace products and requirements.
  • Ability to function as a team player.
  • Work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to accept personal accountability for successful job performance of self and limited accountability for others.
  • Ability to initiate and offer suggestions aimed at improving service to our customers.
  • Ability to communicate with inter-company, intra-company, customers, and vendors as required (phone skills, written skills, and email skills).

Nice To Haves

  • SolidWorks certified preferred.
  • Lean green belt or higher a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review product requirements to assess manufacturability and prepare cost to manufacture estimates for new products.
  • Maintain system costing for existing products.
  • Implement complete manufacturing data packages for successful execution by the factory team, including ERP system creation of part numbers, BoMs, routes, and ECOs, along with CAD models, drawings, and work instructions.
  • Review specification requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee and support released jobs on the shop floor, including analysis for customers, process oversight, and fixture development.
  • Handle technical process development and own overall process compliance for key departments such as dip braze, heat treat, solder, and weld.
  • Disposition non-compliant product for responsible processes, creating rework orders or scrap parts as required.
