About The Position

At Intramotev, we are dedicated to revolutionizing the freight industry by liberating tons of freight from congested highways, reducing carbon emissions, and enhancing transportation efficiency. We are deploying self-propelled battery-electric railcars and vehicles to transform freight logistics and bring innovation to our rail network. By helping us make rail competitive with trucking, you can contribute to work that matters in solving big societal problems like reducing emissions, improving safety, and minimizing road congestion. Based in St. Louis, MO, we are committed to promoting industrial revitalization, saving lives, and minimizing the environmental impact of trucking and transportation. We actively foster a work environment for every teammate that's welcoming, respectful and inclusive, with great opportunities for professional growth. Find your future with us. We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join the production team building our self-propelled battery-electric railcars and vehicles in St. Louis. This role connects design engineering to the shop floor on a low-volume, high-mix vehicle build that spans new vehicles, retrofits, and modifications, both mechanical and electrical. The successful candidate makes designs buildable through DFM/DFA, designs the tooling, fixtures, and station layouts the build needs, structures manufacturing BOMs for make/buy, and writes the work instructions our technicians build from. Odoo is central to this job. BOMs, routings, work orders, and the handoff to our supply chain team all run through Odoo, and this role owns how manufacturing BOMs are structured there. This is a salaried individual-contributor role that reports to operations leadership. It owns defined scope independently, and we level stronger candidates by experience. This is a full-time, 100% in-office role based in St. Louis, MO. You'll work within a team of 3–10 engineers and technicians, working daily with design engineering, quality and test, and supply chain.

Requirements

  • At least a Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3 or more years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • DFM/DFA experience working with design engineers on real hardware.
  • Tooling, fixture, or layout design experience in CAD (Autodesk Inventor, SOLIDWORKS, or similar).
  • Experience structuring BOMs and supporting make/buy decisions in an ERP/MRP system.
  • Authored assembly work instructions used on a production floor.
  • Comfortable on the shop floor, working directly with technicians.
  • Willingness to expand into technical areas beyond your area of expertise; ability to develop innovative and novel approaches.
  • Open-minded and comfortable working in a teaming environment as an individual contributor.
  • Fluent in both written and verbal English.
  • U.S. Person (immigration or work visa sponsorship will not be provided).

Nice To Haves

  • Odoo MRP, Inventory, or PLM experience specifically.
  • Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous-improvement methods.
  • Welding, machining, sheet metal, or fabrication process knowledge.
  • Electrical and wire-harness assembly exposure. Our railcars are battery-electric.
  • Quality methods such as first article inspection, PFMEA, and control plans.
  • Autodesk Vault or another PDM system.
  • Experience in directly applicable industry or projects, such as Rail Vehicles, Electric Vehicles, Automotive, Aerospace, or Heavy Machinery, particularly low-volume, high-mix vehicle or heavy-equipment builds.

Responsibilities

  • Work with design engineering on DFM/DFA so railcar parts and assemblies can be built, inspected, and serviced, and feed build lessons back into the design.
  • Design the tools, fixtures, and work-cell and station layouts the build needs in CAD, and see them through fabrication or purchase and into use on the floor.
  • Organize and structure manufacturing BOMs and routings in Odoo so make/buy decisions are clear and work orders reflect how the vehicle is actually built.
  • Work with the supply chain team on make/buy decisions, sourcing inputs, and material availability for new builds, retrofits, and modifications.
  • Write clear, illustrated assembly work instructions for mechanical and electrical assemblies, and keep them current as designs change.
  • Support technicians on the floor through build issues, root-cause analysis, and corrective action.
  • Find and lead small improvements to build quality, cycle time, and cost across the low-volume, high-mix line.

Benefits

  • Medical coverage: We cover 100% of employee medical premiums, plus low-cost dental and vision options.
  • Vacation: Full-time employees enjoy unlimited paid time off.
  • Equity: Full-time employees receive equity in the company.
  • Parental leave: New parents receive paid time off to spend quality time with their family.
