PWAA is looking for a manufacturing engineer to assist in day-to-day operations, focused on lean values, automation, continuous improvement, and root cause corrective action. Typical duties include troubleshooting equipment, analyzing data, writing work instructions, and supporting investigation. PWAA strives to be best in class and a center of excellence in airfoils and composite bonding.

Requirements

  • A University Degree or equivalent experience in in Science,Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
  • U.S. Citizen - U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency on the computer with Microsoft Office and CAD software or similar experience is required.
  • SAP or Solumina experience is desired.
  • Able to interpret manufacturing drawings and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of design concepts or repair methodologies involving composites, metals, and aerospace hardware.
  • Understanding of composite or bonding Tool design.
  • Ability to learn the use of specific analytical tools (FTIR, Ultrasonic Inspection, etc) and understand the scientific principles behind the techniques in order to understand and interpret the results.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, experience with Kaisen events or experience with a continuous improvement program (ACE, 6s, etc.).
  • Participation in or trained in Design To Cost philosophy.

Responsibilities

  • Plans sequences of operations, estimates time required and writes process sheets and bill of materials.
  • Determines from part drawing and other engineering data manufacturing methods and processes necessary for the fabrication and assembly of complex products.
  • Investigates, establishes, and implements requirements for equipment, tooling, and material, including make or buy decisions and facility layout as required for new or revised products.
  • Investigates and troubleshoots manufacturing problems.
  • Provides technical support to operations.
  • Consult with design or projects engineering concerning the suitability or produce ability of complex molds, fixtures, or parts.
  • Provides strategic direction for systems, projects, and programs in area of expertise.
  • Contributes to the company and the industry by advancing the level of knowledge within that discipline.
  • Provides cross-functional guidance and expertise.
