About The Position

Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer at Level 2 or Level 3 to work onsite in Dulles, Virginia. The role cannot accommodate telecommuting and follows a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off. Travel is 10% of the time; relocation assistance is not available, and no clearance is required to start. The engineer creates, leads, and approves production plans; documents and reviews processes to support program schedules; and leads non-conformance reviews and root-cause investigations. The role designs manufacturing processes, procedures, production layouts, and sequences of operations for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling. It also adapts equipment designs to factory conditions, may incorporate inspection and testing requirements into production plans, and investigates equipment and process issues to support product quality and efficiency. The position develops processes applicable to statistical process control, advises engineering teams on design concepts and specifications that make effective use of manufacturing equipment and techniques, ensures compliance with regulations, and directly interfaces with technicians and supporting roles in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The position may be filled at Level 2 or Level 3. Level 2 candidates need a bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or a related STEM field and at least two years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree; additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree. Level 3 candidates need a bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or a related STEM field and at least five years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree and three years of applicable experience; additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree. Both levels require hands-on experience with electronics assembly processes and equipment.
