About The Position

As a Manufacturing Engineer , you will perform engineering tasks directly related to the manufacturing and assembly of forklifts. You will plan, organize, develop, and implement projects to optimize productivity in terms of quality, quantity, and cost. This role acts as a liaison between engineering functions and manufacturing, supporting both production and technical teams to ensure efficient, safe, and high‑quality operations. This is an onsite position located in Sulligent, AL .

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering, required
  • 3+ years experience in manufacturing or engineering roles
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical/electronic systems
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM, Pro‑E, Corel; ISO, JIT, CSM, DFT, and FlowBase400

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in heavy equipment or lift‑truck manufacturing preferred
  • Systems experience in AS400, NOMS, CORE, and EDM preferred

Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement by reducing cost, waste, scrap, and rework while maximizing productivity, safety, and quality
  • Provide shop‑floor support through documentation, tools, training, troubleshooting, and developing operators’ independent problem-solving skills
  • Develop and maintain SOE/OMS documentation, assembly procedures, and quality process standards
  • Design and optimize line layouts, line balances, and assembly/test line designs
  • Analyze, design, procure, and install equipment, tooling, and fixtures for new or improved products
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) from concept through production launch with a focus on manufacturability and cost
  • Lead or support automation development, PLC controls/programming, test modification/development, and electrical/controls panel layout
  • Manage capital projects including PAR development, cost justification, installation, start‑up, and debugging
  • Apply process expertise in welding, painting (wet/powder), machining (HMC, VMC, VTL, HTL, etc.), fixture development, torque tools (Pulse/DC), and general machine maintenance
  • Participate in limited R&D to improve manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing and QA to launch, verify, and troubleshoot new or modified processes
  • Process engineering changes (Cat D, Service, OEM, ECO) and evaluate manufacturability of specials
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities (VIP, PIR, CAR) and support implementation
  • Act as project manager and cross‑functional liaison between Manufacturing, Quality, and Product Engineering
  • Provide technical input on tooling costs, specifications, inspection documentation, and time standards
