About The Position

This position is responsible for supporting plant leadership in achieving business and financial goals by developing and maintaining robust manufacturing processes and leading the lean transformation across the organization. Additional responsibility includes executing the organization’s strategic plan consistent with federal, state, and local regulations, established industry standards, and customer requirements as well as tooling layout, design& implementation to production, support production team with process improvements & troubleshooting, work with product design on new product tooling & processes, factory layout, and continuous improvement activities (Kaizen events, use of Six Sigma tools, 5S etc.). This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident.

Requirements

  • Ability to act as change agent promoting and driving innovation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively explain technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Ability to prioritize and make decisions considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of Engineering experience in a Manufacturing Environment.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in CNC machining environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • Experience with manufacturing or process design of machined and fabricated components from raw material.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Experience with CAD and CAM software.
  • This position requires access to export-controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must be a U.S. person, defined as a (I) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment implementing Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma principles.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in CNC programming for milling and turning.
  • Minimum of one (1) year Project Management experience.
  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or Master Black Belt.
  • Experience auditing and improving manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with 5-axis CAM programming.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting plant leadership in achieving business and financial goals by developing and maintaining robust manufacturing processes and leading the lean transformation across the organization.
  • Executing the organization’s strategic plan consistent with federal, state, and local regulations, established industry standards, and customer requirements as well as tooling layout, design& implementation to production.
  • Supporting the production team with process improvements & troubleshooting, working with product design on new product tooling & processes, factory layout, and continuous improvement activities (Kaizen events, use of Six Sigma tools, 5S etc.).
  • Leading continuous improvement and lean implementation to eliminate waste, reduce process variations and deliver products to customer’s expectations.
  • Leading/ facilitating kaizen events including the Value Stream Mapping Events, process improvements, and strategic initiatives in collaboration with the High Performance Work Teams (HPWT).
  • Identifying and resolving opportunities, gathering and analyzing information, developing and implementing action plans to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
  • Developing and maintaining robust, cost-efficient manufacturing processes and product structures consistent with lean manufacturing practices.
  • Understanding shop capacity planning related to equipment, processes, and manning.
  • Determining Root Cause and Corrective Actions to resolve issues involving discrepant products or material.
  • Managing projects and conducting project reviews as needed to ensure successful and timely completion, within budget.
  • Communicating changes and progress status.
  • Implementing methods and practices to reduce variation.
  • Demonstrating ability to understand source(s) of variation and identify impact of tolerance stacks in assemblies.
