Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history. Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a manufacturing engineer for our Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri location. As a member of our multi-disciplined team, this role directly supports the installation of capability upgrades on the Stealth Bomber fleet including subsystem and structural modifications, but primarily focused on wire harness fabrication and installations. The successful candidate must be able to work EITHER the 1st shift 7:00am - 3:30pm OR the 2nd shift 2:00pm - 10:30pm

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related STEM field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience; OR a Master's Degree with 3 years of relevant work experience; OR a PhD with 1 years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to understand and effectively communicate technical issues (written and verbal)
  • Experience with the design, build, operation, and maintenance of electrical components or assemblies
  • Experience in researching technical issues through engineering drawing review, database records queries, and theory of operation
  • Ability to create work instructions
  • Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final U.S adjudicated government Secret clearance (must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access (es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company

Nice To Haves

  • Hands on experience working with electrical, electronic, structural, or mechanical parts or assemblies
  • Experience with the design, build, operation, and maintenance of structural components or assemblies
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma techniques for continuous process improvement
  • Experience with wire harness manufacturing and assembly.
  • Proficiency with the full suite of Microsoft Office Tools.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Documented experience working in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment.
  • New manufacturing technology development experience.
  • Experience with CATIA V5 modeling and Teamcenter.
  • Experience with 3D printing technology.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret wire harness and electrical component detail, subassembly and installation drawings and specifications to support production electricians.
  • Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for aircraft modifications, electrical harness fabrication, and subcomponent fabrication and assembly
  • Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling
  • Provides manufacturing oversight and guidance for electrical harness fabrication shop, to include fabrication work instructions, identifying necessary tooling and facilities requirements, and investigating engineering issues.
  • Provides guidance to vehicle engineering regarding aircraft modifications and subassembly design concepts, specification requirements, and installation constraints
  • Adapts machine, tooling, or equipment design to optimize efficiency and integrate with existing operations
  • Incorporates inspection and test requirements into aircraft modification plans and subcomponent production plans
  • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency; investigates problems and deficiencies and initiates corrective action to ensure product quality
  • Specify, identify, and procure new manufacturing equipment to ensure production readiness.
  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations
  • Assist in training employees in new and existing manufacturing processes.
